Industrial Culture Trail Winterthur, drawing of nail machine 1895

The last existing nail factory in Switzerland offers tours at any time.

The Swiss Nail Factory Winterthur contains five transmission driven nail machines dating back to 1895. These historical machines were meant to be scrapped in 1999. Thanks to the efforts of ARIAS Industrial Culture, the machines were restored and preserved and are now the main attractions of the exhibition. Guided tours through the operation facilities as well as other activities attract more and more visitors. Until 2010, further investments are planned for the reception hall (former forwarding department), the circular gallery and the safety of the visitors. The historical machinery is protected with an entry in the land register until 2030. During this period, the reception hall may be used for guided tours and archives by InBahn GmbH and SGTI.
